Oliver C. Holloway, son of Elias and Ruth Holloway, was born Dec. 15, 1841, in Columbiana county, Ohio.

September 18, 1862, he enlisted in Company H, 115 Regiment of Ohio Volunteers, serving bravely until the end of the Civil War. During the spring of 1866 he came to Iowa and was employed near Downey.

On New Years Day, 1874, Oliver Holloway was united in marriage with Leah Gates of West Liberty, immediately moving to his partly unbroken prairie farm three miles southwest of West Branch, where they lived until the spring of 1890, when they moved to the present Holloway home south of West Branch, where he peacefully passed this life Sunday afternoon, Sept. 7, 1924.

He is survived by his widow and two children--Mrs. George Yetter of West Branch and son Fred who lives at home. One other daughter, Edith, (Mrs. George Yetter) passed away Feb. 27, 1908. Besides the immediate family he is survived by one sister, Mrs. Jacob Werner, of Atlantic, Iowa, and one brother Mark Holloway, of Topeka, Kansas.

Private family services were held at the home Tuesday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock, conducted by Rev. L. H. Barrett.
