16 October 1924 - West Branch Times

Julia Marson Hogue was born on December 14, 1857, at Oakdale, Va. She was the oldest daughter of John and Barthenia Hogue. She united with the Presbyterian church when a girl of 16 years of age and kept her membership in that church thru all the years of her life, in whatever place she dwelt. At the time of her death her membership was in the church at Atalissa.

She continued to reside in Virginia until after her parents' deaths, when she removed to Iowa, in 1888, and made her home with her sister, Mrs. William Forsyth near West Branch.

Her death took place in West Liberty October 3, the change coming peacefully; quietly, gently did she breathe out the spirit into the eternal world. She was, at the time of her death, aged 66 years, 11 months and 19 days.

There are left to mourn her removal, one sister, Mrs. Forsyth of West Liberty, and one brother, Pinkney of Murat, Virginia, two sisters and two brothers having preceded her in death.

She lived a quiet, peaceful and trustful life, and ever had the comfort of a simple trust in Christ.

The funeral took place from the home in West Liberty, October 5. The services were conducted by Rev. George Furniss. Interment was in the cemetery at West Branch.
