Pylena Hicks, wife of Francis M. Hicks, died at her home in West Branch Tuesday, April 2, 1913. She was born in Trunbull county, Ohio, July 16, 1841. She removed to Ogle county, Ill., in 1863, and was married to Francis M. Hicks, June 5, 1867. The last 28 years of her life were spent in Iowa, the last 15 years in Cedar county. At the time of her death she was in her 72nd year.

She had suffered a paralytic stroke about two years ago and had since then been an invalid. The end came as a general break down of nerve and life forces.

She leaves her husband and three children: Fred C., of Mitchell, S. D.; Frank W., of Ames, Iowa, and Fannie C. R., of West Branch, whose lives have all been enriched by her own unselfish and noble character and to whom her memory will be a priceless blessing.
