27 February 1879 - West Branch Local Record

We learn with sadness of the death of Mrs. Alfred Millett under very unhappy circumstances, on Wednesday of last week. The filthy, carrion loving buzzards of society, who delight in slander and black-mail, have raised a hue and cry of mal-practice, when the facts in the case prove conclusively that everything was done to save Mrs. Millett's life that could be done. Besides, the excellent reputations of the attending physicians should quiet all doubts and set this matter at rest forever. Mrs. Millett was buried on Friday. She leaves a husband and a large family of children to mourn her loss.

DIED At her residence in North Liberty, Cedar county, Iowa, Feb. 20, 1879, Sarah, wife of Alfred Millett, aged 43 years, 3 months and 20 days.

Mrs. Millett was born in Repton Derbyshire, England; emigrated to America with her parents in 1856, since which time she has lived in Cedar county with the exception of a few years. The deceased leaves a family and a large circle of friends to mourn her loss. The hand of death has been laid upon one of our most respected citizens. She embraced religion at an early age, and has always lived a consistent and examplary life. Her sufferings though severe were borne with Christian-like fortitude. She manifested the same calm composure in the hour of death that characterized her from childhood. She was resigned to the will of God, whom she loved and trusted, and certain we are that a crown of glory awaits her. She is borne to that land from which no traveler returns, but has left an impression that weather, time nor circumstances can not erase. JOSIAH COLLINS.
