27 September 1923 - West Branch Times

Word was received yesterday of the death of I. T. Enlow at his home in Des Moines.

For a long time past his health has failed and he had been in the hospital for several weeks, suffering from a complication of diseases. Ten days ago he was taken to his home and death came at 1 o'clock yesterday morning.

Mr. Enlow was a West Branch boy and for many years has been a traveling salesman, making occasional welcome visits to the home town while on his business trips.

Always genial and never losing the feeling that he still belonged here, he will be greatly missed.

His last trip home will be made this afternoon and the funeral will be conducted by Rev. Wilson at ten o'clock tomorrow (Friday) morning from the Friends church, with interment in the West Branch cemetery.

The obituary will appear next week.

Isaiah Thomas Enlow, son of Thomas and Elizabeth Enlow, was born March 7, 1864, near Hillsdale, Michigan. His mother died when he was but seven months old and his home was with his aunts until he was brought to his fathers home in Cedar county, Iowa, at the age of 4 years.

Near West Branch he grew to manhood, having united with the Friends church when but a boy.

For twenty-seven consecutive years he served as traveling salesman for the King-Hamilton Co. of Ottawa, Ill., being one of the oldest men in this line of work in Iowa at the time of his death.

Following an illness of several months he passed away at his home in Des Moines, Sept. 26, 1923, at the age of 59 years, 6 months and 19 days.

H. Wilson, assisted by Rev. Rowley, pastor of the M.E. church.
