George W. Reade, 79, a resident of West Branch the past six years, died at Mercy hospital in Iowa City March 8.

Mr. Reade was born Sept. 18, 1886, at Onslow, the son of Samuel and Carrie Hanna Reade. He attended schools at Onslow and North English. He was married in 1916, at South English, where he farmed until his retirement 6 years ago to move to West Branch.

Mr. Reade was a member of the Mennonite church.

Surviving are 2 daughters, Mrs. Gladys Reynolds, West Branch and Mrs. Gayle Yoder, Denver Colo.; three sisters, Mrs. Zada Corbett and Mrs. Leone Shea, both of Cedar Rapids and Mrs. Iva Rodman of Monticello; 6 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son and two brothers.
