RODGERS - In Mechanicsville, at the home of her son-in-law, Mr. J. H. Onstot, on Monday, March 17th, 1890, Mrs. Martha Rodgers, in the seventy-fourth year of her age.

Deceased was born in Pennsylvania Jan. 14, 1817. While yet a young woman she became the second wife of Mr. E. Rodgers and was a most excellent mother to his young children, of whom our townsman, Mr. B. J. Rodgers was one. She also raised quite a family of her own, and in every relation of life approved herself worthily and well. Mr. and Mrs. R. came to Cedar County in 1854. They first settled north of Red Oak, but subsequently removed to Mechanicsville, where Mr. R. died a few years ago. In both communities Mrs. R. was highly regarded and many old friends and neighbors will pay the tribute of affection to her memory. The funeral took place at Mechanicsville yesterday, Rev. Townsend officiating, and was quite largely attended.
