The people of this community were shocked and grieved by news of the sudden death of Mrs. Earl Scellars, which occurred at her home at 7:20 Sunday evening, after an illness of a few days. The funeral services were held at the Friends church at 2:30 yesterday. Deep sympathy is felt for the bereaved husband and afflicted little daughter.

Mrs. Scellars has lived faithfully as a christian and member of the church, and has been a devoted wife and mother, contributing thus to the making of a happy home.

She leaves to mourn her loss, besides her husband, Earl, and daughter, Eloise, her father, Harry Vincent, who with her youngest sister, Hannah, and one brother, Walter, lives in California. Four other sisters, Lou E. Saylor of Cedar Bluff, Iowa, Leora Saylor of Manilla, Iowa, Flossie Sponney of Rock Island, Ill., and Madge C. Straube of Racine, Wis. Two other brothers, James and Harlan Vincent of West Branch, Iowa. Her mother and one brother have preceded her in answering life's final summons.

She died of erysiplas at their recently purchased home near West Branch, Ia., Jan. 2, 1921, and the body was laid to rest in the local cemetery, following funeral services from her home church on Wednesday afternoon, Jan. 5, 1921.

Death came very suddenly following a brief illness of but five days. At the bedside were Mr. Scellars' mother, Mrs. Jennie Scellars, the husband, daughter, one sister, Mrs. Saylor, and one brother Harlan. Three other sisters came for the funeral, Mrs. Flossie Sponney and Mrs. Madge C. Straube and Mrs. Leora Saylor.
