17 September 1931 - West Branch Times

The sudden death on Saturday evening, August 30th, of Mrs. Strother D. Douglass, prominent Pasco matron, came as a distinct shock to her family and her many friends. Mrs. Douglass had just returned a short time ago from the east, where she had visited her son Donald D. Douglass in Boston for two months, and had been enjoying very good health. On her return here she suffered a serious attack of hay fever and asthma, and her death which was attributed to a paralytic stroke, was probably superinduced by the attacks of asthma which had weakened her heart.

Deceased's maiden name was Elizabeth Grant Teegarden. She was born in West Branch, Iowa, on October 14, 1868, and was married on Oct. 20, 1898 in Nelson, Iowa, to Strother D. Douglass, who survives her. They moved from Iowa to Ritzville, this state, in October, 1901, and came to Pasco in June, 1911. They have made their home here ever since except for a short time when they maintained a home in Spokane for the benefit of Mrs. Douglass' health. Besides her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Ralph Whitemarsh of Walla Walla, and her son Donald D. Douglass of Boston, a brother C. A. Teegarden of Methow, Washington, and two grandchildren, Elizabeth and Bruce Whitemarsh.

Relatives here for the funeral are Mr. and Mrs. F. L. Douglass of Ellensburg, Miss Bernice Douglass of Seattle, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Whitemarsh and children of Walla Walla, Mr. and Mrs. Manley Douglass of Los Angeles, C. A. Teegarden of Methow, Donald D. Douglass of Boston, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Miller of Tacoma, and Mr. and Mrs. P. J. Peterson of Spokane.--The Pasco (Wash.) Herald
