16 December 1909 - West Branch Times

The community was inexpressibly shocked last Friday morning when the word came over the telephone that Frank Myers, living one and one-fourth miles south of Centerdale, had shot himself. Later news confirmed the report. Many of his friends hoped that it might be found that it was accidental but it was soon proven that it was premeditated. The family had arose in the morning as usual. The oldest son was milking at the barn when he heard a report, but thinking it might be a pitchfork dropped on the floor, went on with his work. Mr. Myers was soon missed and on search he was found in the hay mow cold in death. He had placed the muzzle of a rifle in his mouth and pulled the trigger. He was taken to the house and assistance summoned, but nothing could be done.

Mr. Myers was a prosperous farmer but had been in poor health for some time. He was 39 years of age and leaves his wife and three sons to mourn his rash act.

The funeral was held from the home Sunday with interment at West Liberty Monday.
