Mary A. Gephart, daughter of Leonard and Ellen Gephart was born March 14, 1843 in Union county, Penn., one of nine children. Was married Dec. 7, 1866 to J. N. M. Mensch. In March, 1867, they moved to Iowa and settled in Muscatine county. Later they lived for several years in Cedar county. This union was blessed with 8 children, five daughters and one son, still living.

During the past ten years the family has lived near Hobart, Okla. The deceased was afflicted for about a year but for only two or three weeks was her condition considered very serious. Quite early in life she united with the Methodist Episcopal church and lived a consistent Christian life. She was resigned and had hope of immortal life.

Death came June 18, 1911, aged 68 years.

She is survived by her husband, five daughters and one son; also by one brother and three sisters.

The remains were brought to Springdale, Iowa, where funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. June 21, in the Friends church by Rev. E. A. Lang of the Methodist church. Interment in the cemetery 2 1/2 miles northeast of Springdale.
