28 May 1931 - West Branch Times

Mrs. Anna Marie Petersen, nee Christoffersen, was born December 17, 1867, at Kragelund Sogn, Denmark. She died at West Branch, Tuesday morning May 19, 1931, at the age of 63 years, 5 months and 2 days. She was baptized, given religious instruction and confirmed in the Lutheran church of Denmark.

She was united in marriage with Paul Petesen in 1896. To their happy union four children were born, two sons and two daughters: Niels Christian Petersen of Denmark; Johanna Petersen, Mrs. Ann Martha Fobian and Hans Peter Petersen, all of West Branch. A son by a former marriage, Anton M. Anderson of Racine, Wis.; survives her also. Besides these she is survived by two brothers, Jens C. Christoffersen, Dallas, Texas; and Laust Christoffersen, Denmark; and two grandchildren.

Mrs. Petersen came to this country with her husband for a short visit on Nov. 19,1928. But a month later she suffered a stroke, thus making it impossible for her to return to her native country, but on the contrary, making it necessary for her to spend most of the time in bed.

During her illness she was very patient. She received tender care from her dear ones; and the fact that she could be with most of them during this period of illness was a great comfort to her. When the pastor ministered unto her, reading the Word and offering prayer, she was very appreicatative. God says, "The Gospel of Christ is a power of God until salvation to everyone that believeth."

Services were held at the home at 2 o'clock Thursday, and at the Lutheran church at 2:30 p.m. conducted by the Rev. A. E. Christiansen.
