Evan Bonsall was born at Salem, Ohio, 2nd mo. 7th, 1823. In 1853 he married Caroline W. Satterthwait of Philadelphia. In the spring of 1857 they moved to Iowa, returning to Ohio in 1859. After living there 3 years they again returned to Iowa and lived on a farm near What Cheer, where his wife passed to the better world 12 mo., 1st, 1894. He moved with his daughter, Eva, to West Branch, Iowa, in 1895 where he lived until 1 mo., 17, 1907, when his spirit returned peacefully to Him who gave it, having expressed thankfulness that his children had all been spared to him on earth and a desire that they all meet in Heaven.

His four children were all present to attend the last sad rites of a loving father.

The funeral took place from the home of his son, W. T. Bonsall, at What Cheer, Iowa, 1st mo., 23d, 1907.
