Funeral services for Carlton E. Holden, 67, Williamsburg, former Tipton resident, will be held at First Presbyterian church in Williamsburg at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 8 with the Rev. Keith Orr officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Williamsburg. A memorial fund has been established.

Mr. Holden died at the Veterans Administration Medical center, Iowa City, March 2.

The son of Carl and Agusta Oldenburg Holden, he was born in Iowa county Oct. 2, 1918. He graduated from Williamsburg high school. He was married to Phyllis Eaton in Washington D.C. Dec. 4, 1942.

He served as a bomber pilot in the 8th Air Force in World War II. In 35 missions he received the Distinguished Flying Cross and 5 Air Medals. The Holdens lived near Tipton before moving to Williamsburg. He was a member of Masonic Lodge No. 11, Tipton, the Tipton Moose lodge and KAABA Shrine, Davenport.

He is survived by his wife, 2 sons, Philip, Kanoeohe, Hawaii and Keith, Hahn Air Force Base, West Germany, 2 grandsons, 2 brothers, Palmer, Tipton and Roland, Williamsburg and a sister, Mrs. Willard (Annabelle) Mass, Williamsburg. He was preceded in death by an infant brother.
