Hazel Carpenter, a lad living between Mechanicsville and Stanwood, was left at a neighbor's last Saturday while his parents went to town and accidentally killed himself. He had a rifle which he was using to shoot birds about the barn. He was found by the neighbor's boys in a manger, dead. It is supposed that he shot himself while climbing to the loft.
