31 October 1901 - The Clarence Sun

Mrs. Theda A. Hager Hansen was born at the old family residence near Oxford Junction, Iowa, Oct. 26, 1859, and died at her home near the same place Sunday p.m. Oct. 27, 1901, being 42 years and 1 day old.

She early in life gave her heart to God and united with the Dayton Valley Wesleyan Methodist church, the various departments of whose work she faithfully and earnestly sought with a growing zeal to advance. This helpful worker will be greatly missed by the membership at the regular church services, in the missionary meetings and at their social gatherings.

On the Sabbath of her death she had attended morning service, the theme of her pastor's discourse being, "Love of the Church". In the class meeting following she gave a very feeling testimony of her love for her Master, His church, and His people, speaking of personal benefit derived from the message of the hour. Later, and while engaged in the necessary household duties of the day, suddenly and totally unexpected by her friends came the summons for her to enter her eternal rest.

At the age of 18 she began teaching school, which work she continued until the death of her mother in 1887 when she assumed the cares and duties of her father's home administering to the wants of his declining years.

She was united in marriage to Mr. John M. Hansen, May 2, 1899, proving herself a devoted loving wife.

She leaves to mourn her loss a grief stricken husband, one brother and five sisters, together with a host of loving friends. She will be greatly missed in the home, in the church, and in the community.

Her funeral was conducted by the writer from the above named church, and her body laid to rest in the adjacent cemetery to await the general resurrection.

Her sudden death admonishes us all to heed the command "Therefore be ye also ready, for in such an hour as ye think not, the Son of man cometh." R. W. Mack
