ABNER PIATT DEAD. -- A telegram from Chicago yesterday announced the death there of that old time resident here, Abner Piatt. The remains will arrive here Saturday morning at 5:27 and the final services held at 2:00 p.m. From yesterday's Drover's Journal we take the following: "Abner Piatt, one of the oldest commission men in the business in Chicago, died at noon today after a long spell of sickness, having a complication of diseases. 'Ab' as he was familiarly called, was a general favorite with everybody in the trade, who will miss him. He always enjoyed a joke and his well known laugh, which everybody knew so well, could be heard above all others. The family, which consists of his wife and four children, have the sympathies of their many friends. Harry D. Piatt and J. H. (Ham) Piatt, the two sons, have been associated in business with their father since boyhood. Mrs. C. P. Holmes and Miss Annie Piatt are the other two children. The funeral will be held Friday from the residence, 4356 Calumet avenue."
