The subject of this notice, Mrs. Caroline Hawk, was born March, 1821, in Montgomery county, Pa., and died at the home of her son-in-law, Joe Briggle, near Pedee, Iowa, of apoplexy, April 13th, 1895. She was born in the Lutheran church of which she was a consistent member till 1870, when she united with the Free-will Baptist church, of which she was a member at the time of her death. She was married to John Hawk Dec. 7th, 1843, and they came to Cedar county in 1856. She leaves three sons and two daughters to mourn their loss, her husband and four children having preceded her to the other shore. The funeral services were conducted by A. S. Leach.
