23 April 1931 - The West Branch Times

It is with deepest grief we record the death of Mrs. John F. Sladek who passed from life April 18, at the Mercy hospital, Iowa City.

She leaves as her bequest to the world and as a blessing to her beloved family a young life just a few days old, a baby daughter born Wednesday, April 15.

Clara A. Kadera, was one of six children who came to bless the home of Mr. and Mrs. John J. Kadera. At the tender age of one year she was brought to the present home, and through childhood, youth and married life she has never left it until this time, when she leaves for the Eternal home.

Born on May 28, 1897, she was nearing her 34th birthday. Six years ago on February 11, 1925, she became the wife of John F. Sladek and the couple have walked harmoniously through the sunshine and shadows of a busy life.

Beside the husband, John F. Sladek and little daughter, we record the names of the immediate family who mourn the death of their loved one--the parents, Mr. and Mrs. John J. Kadera, the brothers, Joseph, Edward and Charles, two sisters, Mrs. Frank J. Grizel and Mrs. Joseph J. Hora. One sister, Lillie Blanche has gone ahead into the Silent Land.

The funeral services were held from the home northwest of Oasis on Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock. The Iowa city Rebekah Lodge and the West Branch Legion Auxiliary assisted in the ceremonies. Burial was in the Oasis cemetery.

The obsequies were in charge of the Rev. H. D. Green, pastor of the Methodist church, West Branch.
