23 September 1897 - The Tipton Advertiser

CATTELL - At his home near Centerdale, September 11, 1897, at the age of 53 years.

Mr. Cattell was born in Mahoning county, Ohio, where he grew to manhood. He came to Cedar county in 1872 and in 1875 was married to Miss Mary Mayer, who still survives and to whose care and protection are left six children, two sons and four daughters.

They lived on what is known as the Myer farm until six years ago when they sold out and removed to a larger one near Centerdale. Clark Cattell was of Quaker parentage. He became a member of the Friend's church at a very early age and at the time of his death retained his membership with the church of his early boyhood at Goshen, Ohio.

Of his life and christian example his neighbors and friends speak in highest praise. In his family he showed the same cheerful Christian spirit; a kind loving husband and father. During his last illness which was prolonged and painful he was patient and appreciative of the many kindnesses shown him by neighbors and friends. His parting advice to his family was, not to weep for him. The home that has been bereft of such a father must always feel his hallowed influence.
