April 25th, 1865, Mrs. Ann, wife of Mr. John Birss, in the 45th year of her age.

Thus one by one and in quick succession we are called to enter in the "swelling of Jordan." Mrs. Birss was called suddenly, yet we trust not unpreparedly, to exchange worlds. Her trust and confidence was in Jesus who himself had conquered Death in his dark domain, and who has promised to be with all his faithful followers in the hour of dissolution. She was quiet, retiring, and unassuming, and was best known and most highly appreciated in the family circle. She leaves a husband, four children, and many friends to mourn her sudden departure and their irreparable loss. But we trust that their loss is her eternal gain.
