Mrs. Winifred G. Sloan, well known Cedar county woman who had made her home with her daughter Mrs. Sam Hegarty near Stanwood since the death of her husband a few months ago, was summoned Saturday evening while in Tipton. Mrs. Sloan had accompanied her daughter and family to Tipton that evening. Becoming suddenly faint she stepped in at the Fred B. Wilson store, where she passed away a few minutes later.

Florence Pickens was born August 15, 1868 in Virginia and passed away July 23, 1932 at Tipton, Iowa. She was united in marriage to Winifred G. Sloan in August, 1893. To this union were born three children, one having died in infancy. A son Raymond passed away 7 years ago and the husband seven months ago in an auto accident. She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Sam Hegarty and two grandchildren, Paul and Bethany Hegarty. Also one invalid brother.

"Remembering her Creator in the days of her youth," she united with the M. E. church South and changed residence and at death was a member of the Bettendorf Tabernacle. Her voyage through this life is explained by the 23rd Psalm.

Funeral services were in charge of Rev. Hemphill of Stanwood U. P. church, Monday July 25, at 2 o'clock. Burial in Tipton.
