Isreal Roy Peden, was born in Cedar county, Iowa, Dec. 21, 1878, and passed away at the University Hospital, Iowa City, Wednesday, May 11, 1932, age 54 years, 4 months and 20 days.

He was united in marriage to Miss Idelia Frymoyer on June 6, 1906. To this union were born eight children. Mr. Peden leaves to mourn his loss besides his wife, the following children: Mrs. Vernon Oxley of Iowa City; Mrs. Roy Karns of Tipton, and Henry, Violet, Vera, Serena, George and Florence at home. He is survived by two grandchildren, George and Harold Oxley of Iowa City, also his aged mother, Mrs. Albert Baker of Springdale, and three aunts and an uncle as well as a host of other relatives and friends.

Mr. Peden had been in failing health for more than two years. Four weeks ago he was removed to the University hospital where he underwent an operation for ulcer of the stomach. This was followed by two other operations which offered only temporary relief.

Mr. Peden's entire life was spent in and around the Rochester community and he was held in high respect by neighbors and friends.

Mr. Peden was a man who lived according to his convictions. Plain in his outward demeanor, he avoided show or display and lived his life in a quiet upright manner with a deep love for home and its surroundings. His chief aim was to add comfort and happiness to his family and to his aged mother to whom he was also greatly devoted.

He will be greatly missed from the community, for he was one who was always ready to help those in trouble or need. The funeral was held at the family home on Sunday afternoon with Rev. Otis Moore and Rev. Bernard Davis in charge. Interment was in Rochester cemetery.
