18 May 1944 - The Clarence Sun

Allen Henry Frink was born on the Frink farm northeast of Clarence on June 3, 1878, and spent the entire 66 years, 11 months and 8 days of his life here. He passed away at St. Luke's hospital in Cedar Rapids on Thursday morning, May 11, 1944. The death certificate gives the cause of his death as pneumonia. He was operated upon for a lung ailment from which he had been suffering since the latter part of last year with a gradual losing of his lifelong good health and strength.

On March 14, 1921, he was married to Miss Adala Hein who survives him together with their son Everett who is now with the armed forces on the Marshall Islands, too far away to enable him to come home at this time and be the great comfort to his mother he would be.

In the passing of "Al" Frink the community loses a substantial and steady citizen who was much respected.

The funeral was held on Sunday afternoon at the Stanwood Evangelical Lutheran church and was conducted by Reverend J. E. Koch of the Bennett church of that denomination. Burial followed in the Clarence cemetery.

The pallbearers were Chris Kline, Ray Steege, Louis Portwig, Chris Kroemer, August Kammeyer, Wm. Koth.

Those who attended the funeral from outside the local territory were: Miss Louella Miller, Fort Wayne, Ind., Mrs. John Herrig, Sr., and daughter Amanda, and Mr. and Mrs. John Herrig, Jr., Wall Lake, Mr. and Mrs. G. H. Hein, Davenport, Miss Martha Hein, Hampton.
