Bessie, youngest child of Charles E. and Eva W. Decker, was born July 30, 1891, at Beemer, Nebraska, and died at the home of Mr. and Mrs. T. W. Wood, Wednesday morning, at nine o'clock, January 5, 1944.

The family moved from Nebraska to Scott county, Iowa, during the year of 1904 and three years later came to Clarence where they made their permanent home.

The father passed away February 7, 1925, and the mother May 20, 1937. Since their going Bessie has lived in the family home.

She attended the public schools both at Beemer, Nebraska, and Clarence. She became interested in the church and all of its activities early in life. She was a member of the Dayton Valley Wesleyan Methodist Church and when it was not possible for her to attend the services there she came to the Methodist Church in Clarence.

Those who grieve because of her early death, are, her sister, Mable Wood, and her husband, one aunt, Sarah Decker, and a number of cousins, other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services were conducted at the Clarence Methodist Church, Friday afternoon, Jan. 7, by Rev. W. A. Kemp and Rev. A. B. Chamberlin. Burial took place at the Clarence Cemetery.

Six cousins served as pallbearers: Charles Drake, Harold Drake, Harry Decker, Kenneth Frink, Frank Decker, Robert Decker.

Those from out of town who attended the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. Byron Drake and daughter, Betty Jane, Tipton, Mo., Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Davidson and Mrs. Korn, Davenport, Mr. and Mrs. John Davidson, Stanwood.
