Alva R. Brink, son of Ira and Cornelia Hager Brink, was born August 8, 1866, in Massillon Twp., and passed away at his home in Clarence October 6, 1945, after an extended illness.

On December 18, 1895, he was united in marriage to Susan Doty. One son, Roy H. Brink, blessed this union.

Mr. and Mrs. Brink lived in the Massillon community and followed the occupation of farming until they moved to Clarence in 1917, where they made their home.

He attended the rural schools of Cedar county and held a respected place in the communities in which he lived. He was a member of the Clarence Methodist church.

Mr. Brink was preceded in death by three brothers:: Milbur, Wesley and Thomas; and two sisters: Emma and Lois.

Surviving. besides his loving companion of almost fifty years, are: the son Roy and wife of the Dayton Valley community; the grand-daughter, Beverly Ann; and a sister, Mrs. Esther Curran of Clarence; also several nieces and nephews.

The funeral was held at the home on Monday afternoon conducted by Rev. A. B. Chamberlin and Rev. Bernard Kemper, followed by interment in the Clarence cemetery. The pallbearers were W. J. Leinbaugh, H. E. Irons, George Bixler, C. G. Sawyer, Charles Schilling, Henry Bauman.

In charge of the flowers, Mrs. Gordon Smith and Mrs. Darwin Beck.
