31 March 1955 - The Tipton Advertiser

Ray Franklin Ridenour was born in Tipton, Iowa, April 10, 1891, the son of Cornelius and Sarah Ridenour. He passed away Mar. 22, 1955, at the age of 63 years, 11 months and 13 days, after a brief illness.

He attended the Tipton schools and was a member of the St. John's Evangelical and Reformed church of Tipton. He served on the Mexican border and overseas during World War I and was an early member of the American Legion of Tipton. After the war he farmed in Cedar county until 1930, when he moved to Tipton and worked the county road construction. He had resided in Davenport for the past 12 years where he was employed until ill health forced retirement two years ago.

In 1921 he was united in marriage to Fern Christian. To this union were born three daughters.

Mr. Ridenour is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Rae Wehde, Tipton, Mrs. Marion Winer, New Liberty, Ia.; Mrs. Maurine Lawson, West Burlington, Ia.; three sisters, Mrs. Minnie Wright and Miss Ida Ridenour, Mechanicsville, Ia.; and Mrs. Helen Blair, Yuma, Arizona; also one brother, Alvin of Knoxville, Ia.; seven grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters.

Funeral services were held Friday, March 25, 1955, at the Sheets & Dahn funeral home with the Rev. Harold Kratzat officiating and interment in Tipton Masonic cemetery.
