Thomas McKibbon Sylvester, son of Peter and Katherine Sylvester, was born July 26, 1877, in Cedar County, Iowa. His entire life was spent in farming in this community.

Tom was married on March 6, 1907, to Myrtle Bixler. An only son, Myrl, has been of invaluable service to his parents.

After a long and painful illness, Tom passed away at his farm home on February 12, 1951, at the age of 73 years, 6 months and 16 days.

He was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers.

Survivors include his wife, Myrtle; his son Myrl; one sister, Mrs. Emma Elijah, of North Bend, Neb.; and two brothers, George, of Clarence, and Ralph of Green, Iowa.

Originally a member of the Presbyterian church of Clarence, Tom transferred to The Methodist church in 1939, where he was a loyal and devoted member. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge.

Funeral services were held at the Methodist church on Wednesday, Feb. 14th, 1951, conducted by Rev. A. D. Holtry. In charge of the flowers were Mrs. Williard Russell and Mrs. Lester Kelly. Music was furnished by Mrs. John Paul, Mrs. Howard Folk accompanied by Mrs. Robert Joslin. Pallbearers were Robert Kelly, Williard Russell, Edwin Gadke, Elmer Sawyer, Kenneth Morehead and John Greig.

Interment was made in the Clarence cemetery.
