Thomas William Woods, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Woods, was born in Clarence on July 25, 1876. His entire life was spent in this community. Tom was married to Mabel Decker on September 21, 1910. The couple engaged in farming and in operating a general store.

Mr. Woods was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Clarence. In recent years he had given his attention and support to other community enterprises.

Tom had been in failing health for the past eight years. The past few months his suffering had been intense, from which he was given release in death at his home on Saturday, September 13, 1952 at the age of 76 years, 1 month and 18 days. He was comforted in sickness by the loving care of his faithful wife.

Mr. Woods was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, and one brother. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Mabel Woods, of Clarence; three nieces, Mildred Hutchinson, of Sacramento, Calif., Margaret Perry, of Rochester, Minn., and Grace Woods of Tipton; and one nephews, Ralph Davidson, of Davenport.

Funeral services were held at the Chapman Funeral Home on Tuesday, September 16, 1952, at 2 p.m. with the service conducted by Rev. A. D. Holtry and Rev. Elsie Stephens. Music was furnished by Mr. and Mrs. U. J. Fike accompanied by Mrs. Paul Wingerd. Pallbearers were Art Sherman, S. G. Paul, Alfred Koth, Robert Kelly, Lester Winey and Harry Sievers.

Interment was made in the family lot at the Clarence Cemetery.
