Mrs. Elizabeth Dresden, nee Kahler, was born November 11, 1873, at Metzen, Mecklenburg Schwerin, Germany, to Friedrich and Katharina Hazelstein Kahler.

Mrs. Dresden was baptized in Germany, confirmed March 25, 1888, in Zion Evangelical and Reformed Church at Lowden by Rev. J. Schwarz.

On November 23, 1893, she was united in marriage with August Dresden by the Rev. John Hermann at Clarence, and this union was blessed with three children.

With the exception of nine years spent in Hardington, Neb., the Dresden family have lived in the Clarence community.

Mrs. Dresden was a member of St. John's Evangelical and Reformed Church, the Women's Guild, and a charter member of the American Legion Auxiliary.

She passed away on Saturday, December 29, 1951, having reached the age of 78 years, 1 month and 18 days.

The deceased is survived by her husband, August Dresden. One daughter Mrs. Pauline Allemang, Sherrard, Ill. One son August Dresden, Chicago, Ill. One son-in-law Phillip Allemang; two brothers: Ernest Kahler, Long Beach, California, and August Kahler, Lisbon, Iowa; one sister Mrs. L. A. Kintzel, Clarence, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by one son, Fred Dresden, and one sister, Mrs. Hans Dettmann.

Funeral services were held on Monday afternoon, December 31, 1951, at St. John's Evangelical and Reformed Church, Clarence, Iowa, with the Reverend E. J. Bowers officiating. Music with Miss Eleanor Conrad at the organ was furnished by Roslynn Bergmann, Dorothy Claney, Norman Bergmann and Norman Goldsmith. In charge of the flowers were Mrs. Henry Von Muenster and Mrs. Carl Moir. Pallbearers were John Ibsen, Alfred Pruess, Arnold Kahl, Lester Kelly, Arnold Pruess and Louie Conrad.

Interment was made in St. John's Cemetery east of Clarence.
