Chris J. Gadke, was born in Germany on August 12, 1879, to John and Maria Gadke, nee Stohs. At an early age he came with his parents to America.

On October 7, 1907, he was united in marriage with Emma Roennau at Tipton, Iowa. This union was blessed with three sons. Mrs. Gadke passed away February 14, 1947.

On June 8, 1950 he was married to Margaret Wagner who passed away in August of 1951.

Mr. Gadke entered into rest on December 11, 1953 at the home of his son Paul in Stanwood; having reached the age of 74 years, 3 months and 29 days. He was a member of St. John's Evangelical & Reformed Church at Clarence.

Surviving are two sons: Paul Gadke, Stanwood, and Edwin Gadke of Clarence, and several step-children; 5 grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by one son and 13 brothers and sisters.

God made a wonderful father,
A father who never grows old;
He made his smile of the sunshine,
And he molded his heart of pure gold;
In his eyes He place bright shining star,
In his cheeks, fair roses you see;
God made a wonderful father,
And he gave that dear father to me.

Funeral services were held at St. John's Evangelical and Reformed Church in Clarence at 2 p.m. on Monday, December 14, 1953, with the services being conducted by Rev. Edward J. Bowers. Music by a mixed quartet accompanied at the church organ by Rosalee Hartwig. In charge of the floral tributes were Mrs. Norbert Ebert and Mrs. H. A. Bouschlicher. Pallbearers were: Wm. Klein, Ernest Doermann, Fred Jurgensen, John Greig, Lou Hansen and Norbert Ebert.
