Mrs. Esther Ellyson, 73, died at 5:30 o'clock Sunday morning at her home in West Liberty. She had been in failing health several months and bedfast since Thursday.

She was born January 23, 1861, near Springdale and was one of a family of five children, three sisters and one brother, of Elisha and Elvira Negus. She passed her early girlhood on the Negus farm and received her education in the Springdale schools.

Her marrige to W. B. Ellyson of Springdale took place February 16, 1881. Following their marriage Mr. and Mrs. Ellyson lived on a farm east of Springdale until moving to West Liberty in 1912 where they have since made their home. Mr. Ellyson died a number of years ago. Mrs. Ellyson was a birth right member of the Friends church. After moving to West Liberty, Mrs. Ellyson took an active part at the Presbyterian church.

Three children were born to the Ellysons, two sons, Chester and Oakley, who live in St. Paul, Minn., and one daughter, Pearl, who died in infancy. Two sisters, Mrs. Rachel Fogg, West Liberty; Mrs. Mary Rood, Texas; and one brother, Henry Negus, Iowa City, also survive.

Funeral services were held at 2:30 o'clock Tuesday afternoon at the Duncan-Oathout funeral home, and burial was made in Oak Ridge cemetery, West Liberty.
