Word was received here of the death of Fred Schaaf, 71, a retired train dispatcher for the Chicago & North Western railroad, at a Sioux City hospital, Sept. 4th.

Fred was born in Clarence and spent his early years here. He went to Sioux City 51 years ago and was employed by the railroad more than 48 years.

He is survived by his wife, two daughters and their families, one brother Merton, of California, and a half-brother Dr. Addison Dwyer of Kansas City, Mo.
