Mrs. Anna Marie Hartig was born November 25, 1889, at Clarence, Iowa, to Henrich and Wilhelmine Ehmke, nee Horstmann.

On October 17, 1912, she was married to Ernest Hartig, and 1 daughter and 3 sons were born to this marriage.

Mrs. Hartig passed away on Wednesday, February 2, 1955, at the home of her son Erwin, having reached the age of 65 years, 2 months and 7 days.

Her entire lifetime was spent in this community. She was a member of St. John's Evangelical and Reformed Church and The Women's Guild.

Mrs. Hartig leaves to mourn her passing the following children: Erwin Hartig of Clarence; Velma, Mrs. Arthur Kintzel of Stanwood; Lawrence Hartig of Clinton; and Robert Hartig of Camanche. Also 10 grandchildren and 1 sister, Mrs. August Steffens of Oxford Junction.

Her husband, one sister and two brothers preceded her in death.

Funeral services were held at the Evangelical and Reformed Church at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, February 4, 1955, with the service being conducted by Rev. Edward J. Bowers. Music was furnished by a mixed quartette with Miss Eleanor Conrad at the church organ. In charge of the floral tributes were Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Saunders and Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Rowser.

Pallbearers were John Greig, Grover Penningroth, Hugo Rix, Gordon Smith, Arnold Kahl and Dewey Rhatigan.

Interment was made in St. John's Cemetery.
