30 September 1910 - The Lowden News

Frederich Schlueter was born in Estorf, Province Hannover, Germany, on October 24th, 1825. He died on Saturday, September 24th, 1910, at the home of his son, Ernst Schlueter, three miles northeast of Lowden, where Father Schlueter had made his home of late years.

Mr. Schlueter was married in 1850. Mr. and Mrs. Schlueter came to American in 1881 and settled near Lowden. To them were born eight children. The mother and five children preceded Mr. Schlueter to the other shore. Three sons, 28 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren survive him to mourn his demise.

Father Schlueter was always of good health during his long life's journey, only the last year or so his health went on the decline. Gradually he became weaker and infirmities of old age brought the end at the age of 84 years and 11 months.

The old gentleman, when he was yet well, came to Lowden from time to time and we met him here frequently during a period of many years. He was always jovial and was well liked by all who know him.

Funeral occurred Monday afternoon with services in the Lutheran church and interment in the Lowden cemetery. Rev. Brammer conducted the services. The pall bearers were Carl Kroemer Sr., Ernst Hoffmeier, Fred Debner, Herman Meseke, F. W. Penningroth and Chris Kroeger. Father Schlueter was laid beside his wife, who died here about seventeen years ago.
