Agnes Adelaide Welty was born March 4, 1896, on a farm south of Clarence. She passed away at the Ralston Nursing Home in Tipton on Tuesday, March 18th, 1958, at the age of 62 years and 14 days, following an illness of several years.

Miss Welty was the daughter of William R. and Louise Simpson Welty. She attended school in Clarence and lived here with her parents until their death. Since 1930, she had made her home with her sister, Mrs. Ada Thumma, of Mechanicsville. She was a member of the Clarence Methodist Church.

She is survived by her sister, Mrs. Thumma; one brother, Donald Welty of Tipton; one niece, Mrs. Donald Pearson, Lisbon; and three nephews, Richard Thumma, in the air force; Max Thumma of Mechanicsville and William Welty of Tipton.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother and one nephew.

Funeral services were held in the Chapman Funeral Home at Clarence on Thursday, March 20th, at 2 p.m. with the service being conducted by Pastor George Gallaher of the Mechanicsville Presbyterian Church and Rev. Cyril Ashton of the Clarence Methodist Church. The music was furnished by Mrs. Robert Joslin, organist. Casket bearers were Ed Crist, Earl Elijah, Elmer Sawyer, Harry Severin, Warren Claney and Horace Overbaugh.

Burial was made in the Red Oak cemetery.
