William W. Carson, 85, of 2643 Stewart avenue, Evanston, Ill, died Monday, March3, 1958, in his home after a long illness.

Born May 23, 1872, in Clarence, Iowa, Mr. Carson had lived in Evanston since 1923. His former residence was the Ravenswood section of Chicago.

He retired in 1942 as assistant freight claim agent of the Chicago North Western Railway. He had been with the railroad for 43 years. A member of the First Congregational Church, Mr. Carson was a third degree master Mason, A.F. and A.M., Ravenswood Lodge, and a member of the Scottish Rite.

Surviving are his wife, Amanda, and a nephew, Dr. Addison Dwyer of Kansas City.

Dr. Roy L. Minich, minister of the First Congregation Church, of Evanston, Illinois, officiated at the funeral services in the Hebblethwaite Chapel.

Prayer services were conducted on Thursday, March 6th, 1958 at both the Chapman Funeral Home in Clarence and at the Clarence Cemetery where burial was made.

His age was 85 years, 9 months and 9 days.
