Alice Alma Van Sickle passed away Tuesday, December 24, 1957, at a Robins, Iowa, nursing home after having attained the age of 74 years, 3 months and 22 days.

Alice Alma was born to John B. and Ida Haeger Hammond at Clarence, September 2, 1883. Her childhood was spent near Clarence. On March 7, 1906 she was married to Julius G. Van Sickle. They had one child, Mildred Elizabeth, now Mrs. David T. Welch of Evanston, Ill. Mr. Van Sickle passed away July 14, 1952.

She and her husband lived for a short time on a farm near Oxford Junction. They moved to Oxford Junction in 1909. In 1918 they moved to Martelle, Iowa and in 1932 to Springville, which has been her home. The last eighteen months she has been at the Maple Lawn nursing home near Robins.

Mr. and Mrs. Van Sickle were active members of the Springville Methodist Church. She was the first president of W.S.C.S. after change from Bethany Circle. She also belonged to the Order of Eastern Star and the Women's Federated club of Springville.

Surviving beside her daughter and husband, Mr. and Mrs. David T. Welch of Evanston, Ill. are two grandchildren, David Richard Welch of Butte, Mont. and Alice Elizabeth Welch of Evanston, Ill. and one brother, Harry B. Hammond of Marion, Iowa.

Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Charles B. Wilming of Anamosa in the Springville Methodist Church Thursday afternoon, December 26th, 1957, at 2:00 o'clock with burial in the Oak Hill cemetery in Cedar Rapids.

Attending the funeral from Clarence were Mr. and Mrs. Fred Bachman, Mark and Alice Decker and some others.
