Funeral services for Lawrence Earl Ferguson, 67, Cedar Rapids, former Mechanicsville resident, were held at the Horner funeral home in Mechanicsville Nov. 27 with the Rev. Glen High officiating. Burial was in Rose Hill cemetery.

Pallbearers were David Ferguson, Herman Hertz. James High, Carl Bruchner, Clarence Strabu and Ronald Emrich.

Mr. Ferguson died at the Hallmark nursing home at Mt. Vernon Nov. 24.

The son of Oliver S. and Bridget Nolan Ferguson, he was born July 12, 1904 and graduated from Mechanicsville high school in 1921. He also graduated from a machinists school in Davenport.

He was married to Gladys S. Hertz of Solon in Cedar Rapids April 13, 1926. They farmed for a number of years south of Mechanicsville before moving to Cedar Rapids where he was a machinist for Universal Engineering and the Bruchner Machine company.

He was a member of the Moose lodge.

He is survived by his wife, 2 daughters, Mrs. Douglas (Betty) Emrich, Tipton and Mrs. Fred (Mae) Nassif, Apple Valley, Calif.; a brother, Claude, Lisbon and 6 grandchildren, Craig and Jody Emrich, Tipton and Scott, Brad, Kurt and Tami Nassif, Apple Valley, Calif.

He was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Elmer and Glenn, and a daughter, Joyce.
