Morley - Funeral services for Melvin W. F. Doermann, 47, were held Nov. 18 at St. John's United Church of Christ, Clarence, with burial in St. John's cemetery. The Rev. Calvin Schumacher, pastor of St. John's and the Rev. Lloyd M. Dutro, pastor of Faith United Methodist church, Morley, officiated.

Casket bearers were Donald Bliss, Herbert Loertscher, Richard C. Smith, Larry Kaufman, Donzel Ehresman and Harold Ehresman. Honorary pallbearers were Lloyd Thien, Leo Miller, Melvin Thiering, John Eiben, Raldo Horman and Harold Horman.

Music was provided by St. John's choir, which sang "In the Garden," and Mrs. Calvin Schumacher, who sang, "The Lord's Prayer."

Mr. Doermann died unexpectedly of a heart attack at his home near Morley Nov. 15. Melvin William Ferdinand Doermann was born in Cedar County June 27, 1924, son of Charles and Minnie Brinkmann Doermann. He grew up in Cedar county and graudated from Tipton high school in 1942.

He served with the US army from Dec. 1944 until Nov. 1946 and was attached to the 1st calvary division in the Southwest Pacific.

Dec. 1, 1950, he married Margaret Bell at Clarence The couple had 2 daughters. The Doermanns farmed near Clarence and Tipton before moving to their home north of Morley in 1960. He was active in various posts in St. John's church and, since 1965, in Faith church at Morley.

Mr. Doermann was a Farm Bureau member, on the Jones County Beef board, was an ASCS committeeman and a member of Busch-Dennis Post No. 309 American Legion at Mechanicsville.

Survivors include his wife, Margaret; 2 daughters, Rebecca, a sophomore at UNI, Cedar Falls and Barbara, a freshman at Anamosa Community high school; 3 brothers, Erwin and Eric, Mechanicsville and Lavern, Tipton; 3 sisters, Mrs. John (Vera) Eiben, Wheatland; Mrs. Raldo (Darlene) Horman, Tipton and Mrs. Harold (Mary Louise) Horman, Lowden. His parents preceded him in death.
