7 April 1911 - The Lowden News

Erna, the little daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ernst Haacks died last Friday at their new home four miles northwest of Lowden of scarlet fever. She was buried Saturday at the Lutheran cemetery right north of Lowden. The little girl was very nearly three years old. Her sorrowing parents and three sisters survive little Erna to mourn her early departure.

As we reported last week, Mr. Haacks came here from Germany a few months before his family and finding the country suitable for a home, he sent for his family; his wife and children came and all were happy in the family reunion, but the Angel of Death, the invincible conqueror, was near at hand and ere two weeks had gone by in their new home. Death took away little Erna out of the happy family circle and sadness took the place of joy. All here sympathize deeply with the bereaved family.
