Funeral services for D. A. (Jiggs) Donohue, former state legislator, will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at First Methodist church. Burial will be in the Tipton Masonic cemetery. Visitation begins at 10 a.m. today at the Sheets and Son funeral home.

Mr. Donohue died at Cedar Manor Nursing Home Nov. 16 following a long illness.

The son of Wilbur J. and Pearl Mae Willey Donohue, he was born Sept. 26, 1911 and graduated from Tipton high school, attended Tipton junior college and graduated from the University of Iowa in 1936.

Mr. Donohue had been in the real estate and insurance business in Tipton since 1936.

He was first elected to the Iowa House of Representatives in 1943 and served 4 terms, through 1949. He was a candidate for the Iowa Senate in 1952.

Mr. Donohue was active in Republican politics throughout his life and served on the precinct, county, district and state level and maintained a close association with political leaders in Des Moines and Washington.

He was active in civic affairs, helping to organize the first Jaycees in Tipton and took part in the work of the Chamber of Commerce and Tipton Industrial Development Commission. One of his last major projects was the extensive tree planting campaign that took place in 1960's.

He was a member of the Methodist church, the Masonic lodge and the Shrine.

He is survived by his wife, a daughter, Mrs. Robert (Cathie) Plaehn, Dickinson, N. D.; 2 sons, William, Traverse City, Mich. and David, LaPorte City; his parents and a sister, Mrs. J. D. Ramsey, Tipton.

Memorials may be given to the First United Methodist church.

Rose Croix services will be conducted at 8 p.m. today (Thursday) at the Sheets and Son funeral home with the Phath Consistory of Davenport in charge.

Final rites for D. A. (Jiggs) Donohue, 60, were held at First United Methodist church Nov. 19 with the Rev. Eugene Miller officiating. Burial was in the Tipton Masonic cemetery.

Pallbearers were Wayne Miller, Max Werling, Edward Kemp, Richard Anderson, Lyle Grove, and L. D. Suchomel. Mrs. Kennth Gould was organist and Mr. and Mrs. William Kohl, Mrs. Max Banks and Mr. and Mrs. William Schneekloth were in charge of flowers.

Rose Croix services were conducted by Zath Phath Consistory of the Shrine of Davenport at the Sheets and Son funeral home Nov. 18.

He had owned and operated the Donohue Insurance and Realty in Tipton since 1936.

He was married to Darlene Kesler of Swea City at Tipton, Jan. 2, 1943.

Mr. Donohue was a charter member and first president of the Tipton Junior Chamber of Commerce, a past master of the Cedar Lodge AF&AM No. 11, a former member of the board of directors of Tipton Chamber of Commerce, the Tipton Development corporation and the Tipton Golf and Country club.

He also served as treasurer of the Tipton United Fund and, in 1965, was named "Dad of the Year" at the University of Northern Iowa.

He was a member of First United Methodist church and Delta Chi Fraternity at the University of Iowa.

Active in the Republican party throughout his life, Mr. Donohue served as state representative from Cedar county for 4 terms, from 1942 to 1949 and was a candidate for the state senate in 1952.

He is survived by his wife, a daughter, Mrs. Robert (Cathie) Plahen, Dickinson, S.D., 2 sons, William, Traverse City, Mich. and David, La Porte City; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Donohue and a sister, Mrs. J. D. Ramsey.
