Raymond Hansel was born at Jefferson, Ia., on February 14, 1903. He died at his home about three miles southeast of Lowden, on June 24th of tetanus, being at the age of 8 years, 4 months and 10 days.

Raymond came with his parents to this (Springfield) township in February 1910. About 10 days before his death the lad stepped on a nail, which during the first few days did not indicate any bad results; however, a few days later he got worse and physicians found that tetanus or lock jaw had resulted. A trained nurse was put in charge and everything possible was done but death took the boy from his sorrowing parents and three sisters who survive to mourn Raymond's early departure.

Funeral was held Monday with services at the house and interment at the Toronto cemetery.
