Mrs. Emma Surrilda Nauman, an esteemed pioneer resident of Cedar county passed away at St. Luke's hospital in Cedar Rapids, Wednesday morning, February 2nd, following injuries received in a fall at her home Sunday noon.

Mrs. Nauman was born in Cedar county February 22, 1867. She has lived many years in Tipton. Surviving are her daughters, as well as other relatives and a host of cherished friends who are grieved at her sudden passing.

The funeral service has been set for Friday afternoon Feb. 4th, at the Tipton Methodist church with the pastor, Rev. Leo G. Wolfe, in charge.

Emma Surrilda Jennings, daughter of Levi and Margaret Sterrett Jennings, was born Feb. 22, 1867, in Cedar county, Iowa and passed away at St. Luke's hospital Wednesday morning, Feb. 2, 1949, at the age of 81 years, 11 months and 2 days.

She was united in marriage with Thomas J. Nauman Feb. 15, 1887, who preceded her in death Dec. 31, 1934. To this union there were six daughters born, all of whom are living at the present time.

Mrs. Nauman leaves to mourn her going her daughters, Mrs. Ethel Nebergall, Tipton; Mrs. Stella Woodhouse, Wilton Jct., Mrs. Grace Kirkpatrick, Clarence, Mrs. Edna Buck, Wilmar, Calif., Mrs. Dortha Spencer, Tipton, and Miss Mildred Nauman, Tipton. There are also sixteen grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren and a host of friends.

She was a member of the Tipton M. E. church where she was a faithful worker as long as she was able.

Mrs. Nauman was a kind and loving mother and a good neighbor.

Funeral services were held Friday afternoon, February 4, in the First Methodist church, conducted by the Rev. Leo G. Wolfe. Interment in the Masonic cemetery.
