Lisbon - Funeral services were held in the Coon Creek church, Monday at 2:30 p.m. for Charles A. Johnston, a long-time resident of Cedar county.

Pastor Gallaher, Mechanicsville, Presbyterian minister, officiated at the service, with arrangements in charge of Morgan Funeral home.

Charles Augustus Johnston was born Aug. 12, 1879 in the Coon Creek vicinity, the son of Robert and Clara Frink Johnston.

He lived his entire life on the farm with the exception of the winters he spent in the Rio Grande Valley, Tex. He was educated in the country schools.

On Feb. 12, 1908 he was married to Inez C. Millers and they became the parents of 4 children, Maurice, Bernadine, Dale and Roberta. Mrs. Johnston died on Nov. 6, 1945. Mr. Johnston was married Nov. 16, 1949 to Minnie Patrick and she died while they were spending the winter in Texas, on Feb. 14, 1964.

Mr. Johnston was also preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, a brother and a son, Maurice.

He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Bernadine Pratt, Denver, Colo., and Mrs. Roland (Roberta) Kerslake; and a son, Dale, both of Lisbon; 18 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.

Interment was in the Cedar Memorial cemetery and pallbearers were Claude Mitchell, Dean Kirkpatrick, John Kohl, Willard Heneks, Jack Ciha and Ray Kohl.
