Stanwood - Funeral services for Floyd Ronald Spear, 71, were held Tuesday, Feb. 11, at Stanwood Methodist church at 1:30 p.m. Rev. Gordon Vickery was in charge of the services, assisted by Rev. Beaty McDonald. Masonic graveside rites were conducted by Fremont Lodge at the Stanwood cemetery.

Pallbearers were Ed Crist, Don Smith, Charles Moffit, Stanley Eichhorn, Merle Highly, Glen Zerbe. Honorary pallbearers were James Moffit, Arthur Domer and Kenneth Smith.

Mrs. Kenneth Meyer and Mrs. Stanley Eichhorn were in charge of flowers. Mrs. Edward Speer accompanied a trio composed of Mrs. Clifford Crist, Mrs. Wendell Brown and Mrs. Jack Stackhouse.

Floyd Ronald Spear, son of James and Marion Findlay Spear, was born April 2, 1893 at Stanwood. He was the eldest of three children.

He was united in marriage Dec. 4, 1916, to Myrl Hanlon. To this union two sons were born, Ronald and Cecil. She preceded him in death July 30, 1950.

On Jan. 21, 1960, he was united in marriage to Helen Adams.

He lived his entire life in the Stanwood community, was a member of the Methodist church, the Order of Eastern Stars and Fremont Lodge, A.F. & A.M. He was active in all community affairs and served as president of the former Stanwood Horse Show and enjoyed showing his purebred Belgian horses. Mr. Spear was also a prominent Aberdeen Angus breeder. His grandfather introduced the Angus breed in Cedar county and the family has continued with the line

He is survived by his wife, two sons, Ronald and Cecil; six grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Glenn (Florence) Tenley; and a brother, Roland.
