Herman A. F. W. Schaefer was born near Lowden on June 4th, 1893. He was confirmed at the Lutheran church here on Palm Sunday, March 24th, 1907. He died at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Schaefer, at Lowden of tuberculosis, which followed several operation for appendicitis. Aged 17 years, 2 months and 17 days. There survive to mourn his so early demise his sorrowing parents, four brothers and three sisters and a great many friends.

For over a year this fine young man had been a sufferer, when the Angel of Death came and relived him of all pain, trouble and sorrows. All here did deeply sympathize with Herman during his afflictions. The sympathy of the entire community is with the bereaved family.

Funeral occurred Sunday afternoon with services in the Lutheran church and interment in the Lutheran cemetery, Rev. J. H. Brammer officiated. The following named young men were the pall bearers: Fred Gade, Herman Licht, Fred Wiebel, Otto Bunge, Albert Bunge and Walter Wenndt and the Misses Irene Jurgensen and Alma Reinking carried the beautiful flowers.
