Mr. John Henry Spencer was born to Mr. and Mrs. Solomon Spencer on January 18,1880, in Pomeroy, Ohio. He came to Cedar county in 1900 where he spent most of his life farming.

He married Amelia Drichel of Tipton in the Methodist parsonage here on November 23, 1903. They spent their whole life together farming in Cedar county.

Mr. Spencer was ill most of the summer and died at 5:40 a.m. September 24, of a heart condition. His wife Amelia, three daughters, Mrs. Mildred Hintz of Lowden, Mrs. Mabel Beeks of Davenport, Mrs. Margaret Williams of Davenport; three brothers, Dana Spencer of Hebron, Ill., Perry Spencer of Wisconsin, and Elmer Spencer of Milwaukee, Wis.; one sister Mrs. Ed Douglas of Hebron, Ill., all survive him. He also leaves seventeen grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Funeral service was held in the Sheets funeral home with Rev. Harold Kratzat officiating, Saturday, Sept. 27. Burial was in the Masonic cemetery near Tipton.
