18 November 1948 - The Tipton Advertiser

Floyd Earl Reeder, the youngest son of the late Mr. George W. and Mrs. Emma Horn Reeder was born on their farm four miles northwest of Tipton, Iowa, Feb. 2, 1880, and passed away suddenly in Tipton Monday evening about 6:30 Nov. 1, 1948, following a heart attack. He was 68 years, 9 months of age.

He attended the country school as a boy, and his father having passed away when Floyd was 10, the mother left the farm in 1894 and he then attended the Tipton schools, working in vacations with his brother Alfred on the farm. He was ambitious, always wanting to be busy, tilling the soil or caring for the stock, so chose farming as his life work and loved it. He retired from the farm about seven years ago and has made his home in Tipton since. He bought and lived on the farm joining his father's farm on the west more than 35 years ago. He made friends and kept his friends. Of late years his grandchildren have been his greatest joy for he loved them dearly.

He married Ethel Fraseur, May 11, 1909. She passed away Nov. 1, 1934, 14 years before his passing to the day.

He united with the Methodist church in Tipton during the pastorate of Dr. C. I. Gould in 1895 and has continued his membership and interest there.

He leaves to mourn his passing, a son Arnold and wife, of Cincinnati, Ohio; a daughter, Marjorie Brich and husband; two grandchildren: William and Lucretia Brich, of Rock Island, Ill.; a brother Harry H. Reeder of Epworth, Iowa; three sisters, Mrs. Bertha Batcheller, of Gayville, S.D., Mrs. Bessie Carroll of Tipton, Iowa; Mrs. Nellie C. Marks of Yankton, S.D.; three nieces, six nephews, and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral service was conducted at the Wilson funeral home Thursday at 2:00 o'clock p.m. Nov. 4, 1948. The pastor Rev. G. Wolfe, of the Methodist church officiated, speaking comforting words to the sorrowing. Music was furnished by Mr. Albert Tinder with two vocal solos, accompanied by Mrs. C. C. Crawford. Graveside service was in charge of Loyal Order of Moose and interment was made in the Masonic cemetery near Tipton.
