Mechanicsville - Funeral services were held in the Presbyterian church on Tuesday, Nov. 16 for Mrs. Guy Gleason, 81, with Pastor George Gallaher, officiating.

Mrs. Gleason died at the Crest Haven Nursing home, Creston, on Friday, following a lengthy illness. She was a longtime resident of this community before moving to Creston in 1962 to make her home with her daughter, Mrs. Alice Arnold.

Agnes Day Gleason was born the daughter of Oscar F. and Catherine Leisinger Day in Cass county near Anita on Nov. 4, 1884. They moved south of Mechanicsville in 1896 and she attended the Mechanicsville schools until the family moved to California in 1902. She finished high school in California.

She was married at Healdsburg, Calif., on Feb. 6, 1907 to Guy S. Gleason, Mechanicsville, and she returned here to live on a farm. They were the parents of 7 children.

Mrs. Gleason is survived by five daughters, Mrs. Kathryn Schilling and Mrs. Ruth Hayes, both of Ohio; Mrs. Alice Arnold, Creston; Mrs. Laurabel McCrea, Atalissa and Mrs. Florence Burnett, San Diego, Calif. two sons, Frank in Indiana and Stanley of Nebraska.

Also a sister Mrs. Cethil Jones, California, 33 grandchildren, 65 great-grandchildren and one great, great-grandson.

Her husband, parents, a grandchild and two sisters preceded her in death.

William Inks, Jack Hayes, Dale Gleason, Robert Helm, Frank R. Gleason and Stanley Gleason Jr. were pallbearers.

Burial in Rose Hill cemetery. Horner Funeral service in charge.
